This etching celebrates Bob Watson's life and times, his enduring love of literature and rugby, theatre and family. Westwood Players are fictional, the play they are performing is not. Bob attended the 'first night' of this play at the Stephen Joseph Theatre here in Scarborough. Unfortunately he died the very next night, he was a lovely man, an avid collector of my prints which I believe have been distributed amongst his children.
Two fiends were leaving Scarborough for Singapore where they are still to this day. They are setting off up the steps at the end of Spa Bridge, the rainbow happened a few days later and I thought it helped in the composition. It also gives an indication of the 'treasure' that eventually they were to find , they now live in Singapore, have two children and run a successful graphic design company. |
